Who all makes up Gen X Elevation? Andi Starr and James Roberts.

Where did you grow up? Andi Starr grew up in the Pacific Northwest, primarily Portland, Oregon, and James Roberts grew up in Lake Tahoe, California. Both moved to Los Angeles for several years to follow their music dreams, and then ended up meeting in Lake Tahoe, California.

How did you get together? In a small cabin trailer, in the middle of winter 2019-2020, Andi Starr and James Roberts joined forces to become Gen X Elevation. Skill, talent, and experience made a formidable team of these two seasoned musicians, who had already accomplished several records of their own, and to their revelation, discovered an intangible harmony of their two artist souls colliding.

Do you both produce your songs? Yes, there is a strong collaboration on the production of each song, however the main force behind the board is James Roberts, who has had several years of experience mixing and producing records.
​
What is a songwriting session like for you? It varies, depending on where we are when we let the magic in. It can be collaborative or it can be solo. In the end, it all comes together as a beautiful and meaningful co-creation.

What is your local alternative scene like right now in Tahoe? It is mostly cover music, with small amounts of original music sprinkled in.
What type of gear do you produce and record with? We use ProTools on a computer, and run our mixes and recordings through analogue channels, a hybrid of computer and analogue style, recording and mixing. We record all our signals through Neve mic pres, and mix through a Mackie console, with an SSL master buss compressor.

Do you perform live often? No, not at this time as all our music is original. However, this is our next venture as we rehearse daily to perform live.

Tell us about your latest project. This latest record, "Silverfish Swimming' ended up being several remakes of Andi Starr's older records, songs we felt deserved to be reproduced. It was an exciting adventure to bring together the gifts of songwriting and production together as Gen X Elevation.

What can we expect from you in the future? More records, live performances, placements in film and TV, radio play, videos, interviews, and anything that can bring more music and love to this planet.
